stARTwell is a mixed hub located in Amsterdam South-East where the best of various worlds meet.
Scattered across the building are a mix of disciplines and profiles from Amsterdam and beyond.
Ranging from data center innovators and local entrepreneurs to music industry players and an international art residency program, the level of differentiation is high.
With a focus on sustainability, selected companies and initiatives have been welcomed into the building for a limited period. After this period, the building will be re-used to form a larger wooden building with a concrete core.
On the third floor an international art residency program has been set-up for the remaining life-span of the building.
An initiative of stARTwell, in collaboration with Neverneverland and 3 art academies that has lead to an art residency program for alumni of the following academies; Gerrit Rietveld Amsterdam, KASKA Antwerp and La Cambre Brussels. On top of the working studio’s there is some 600m² made available for expositions, workshops and lectures.
On the fourth and fifth floor of the stARTwell building, ALTRE has its nest. It is here that fertile ground is offered to local and young entrepreneurs in various disciplines.
Fashion, mixed media, music studio’s and more can be found in this lively part of the building. ALTRE represents these entrepreneurs who dare to create and do business from a different perspective.
Furthermore, ALTRE has joined forces with Le Safaja, also located on the fourth floor, to organize a place where people can come together. In this completely transformed restaurant, there will be space for live performances, (corporate) receptions, music releases and more!
On the 4th floor, in the south-west wing, there is a magical place by the name of Le Safaja.
Hosted by Wim and Wietse, it offers a restaurant, a stage, and enough space to host events for up to 50 people.
On the menu are a variety of lunch and dining dishes, as well as draught beer, wines and fresh smoothies! Check out what they’ve done to the place!
On the first floor of the stARTwell building, we have dedicated the South-West wing to the newest and most innovative players in Artificial Intelligence.
Following an initiative from EscherCloud AI, in collaboration with Nvidia and many other partners, we are striving to host a flourishing AI hub in Amsterdam South-East.
Entertainment, HealthCare, Smart City and sustainability will be in the spotlight in this ambitious AI demo-room.
Participants will get media exposure, access to the most sustainable super-compute powered by EscherCloud, and expertise from the EscherCloud network.
On top of that there will be trainings and access to the latest technology in AI. Experts from Nvidia, EscherCloud and other firms and institutes will act as
mentors in Hackathons, teachers in AI classes and experts for various AI-related questions.

On the south-west corner of the fifth floor, stARTwell has started a collaboration with 2 music agencies to form the AWdbl music studiowing. Fresh Connect Agency and Custom Made Agency each have their own studio in this wing.
A third studio is being constructed and will be exploited by a British party. More info to follow soon. A fourth studio box is currently under construction, and will be used by For An Equal Society, who in turn will give opportunities to musicians from South-East.
The music from Amsterdam 'Zuid-Oost' will get a better place on the map through the efforts of stARTwell and these three agencies. Check out more on their respective websites:
